Eco-science in the Park: Shadow Woods and Ghosts on Peatland Landscapes
Saturday, 7 October 2017 - Moorland Discovery Centre, Longshaw
This is a free drop-in event on Saturday, 7 October at the Moorland Discovery Centre, Longshaw. Running from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The day will be an opportunity to find out more about SYBRG’s ongoing projects around sphagnum & the ‘healing harvest’; deer; waxcaps and wood-pasture; and shadow and ghost woodlands; as well as the first findings of the BES Peatlands SIG/ SHU peatlands profile project. There will be displays and hands-on activities through the day at the Discovery Centre and a programme of guided walks led by Paul Ardron, Ian Rotherham & SHU colleagues and students, Andy Alder and Joe Worden. We will be starting with waxcap & allied fungi, followed by sphagnum and peat profiles and finishing with a deer survey walk.
